Ukraine: January-August sees declines in beer and malt production

Ukraine�s beer production in January-August this year amounted to 12.24 mln hl � 4.7% less than over the same period in 2020, Ukrpivo reported on September 15.

The nation�s malt output over the reporting period declined by 24.7% to 139,802 tonnes.

Previously, Ukraine�s brewers reported a drop in beer exports in June 2021 � by 27.3% versus June 2020. Industry observers explain the decline by the introduction of individual licensing of Ukrainian beer by Belarus which is Ukraine�s main export destination for beer. Its two other priority markets � Moldova and China � jointly import the volume shipped to Belarus by Ukraine a year ago.

The nation�s beer imports increased to USD42.056 mln dollars in January-July 2021 from USD41.688 over the same period last year.
