USA, MN: Luce Line Brewing Co. expected to open in about a month

Residents of Plymouth waiting for the city�s first public brewery and taproom won�t have to wait much longer. The business partners behind Luce Line Brewing Co. expect to open in a about a month, ccxmedia.org reported on September 24.

�We�ve created a brewery really because our friend and neighbors asked us to do so,� said Tim Naumann, a Plymouth resident and one of two business partners pushing the project forward.

No exact opening date has been set yet. The Plymouth City Council approved a taproom on-sale license and brewer off-sale liquor license for the business Tuesday night. The city council approved zoning and plans for the brewery in June.

Like the name suggests, the brewery and taproom will be located off the Luce Line Regional Trail in the southeast part of the city. The precise location is 12901 16th Avenue North, which is in an industrial area west of Highway 55 and east of Xenium Lane, north of the bike trail.

The location will also include a bicycle shop business in addition to the brewery and taproom. The owners expect to lease part of their space to Trailhead Cycling, a bicycle shop currently located in Champlin.

Naumann is working with a brewmaster to develop the initial beer list served at Luce Line Brewing Co.

�Our current list includes a cream ale, a lager, a stout, hefeweizen, IPA, and a hazy IPA,� said Naumann.

The business will also be serving flavored seltzers. Naumann says Luce Line Brewing also plans to have food available as well, either through food trucks or through partnerships with area establishments.

At a meeting on September 22, Naumann also discussed the efforts of opening during a pandemic.

�We�re taking great strides to make sure that we can be safe and have a fun environment and something the whole community can really enjoy,� said Naumann.

Plymouth City Council members also expressed excitement about having a brewery in the city.

�You�re making a lot of people up here thirsty just talking about it,� laughed council member Ned Carroll, who also noted what a taproom could mean for the city. �It�s a community gathering spot and it�s a place to draw the community together,� he said.
