Canada: Barley crop forecast unchanged at 9.3 mln tonnes
While the soil moisture situation has improved generally, there remain dryness concerns in both Canada and the US, as planting season approaches, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
For now, the analysts barley crop forecast for Canada is unchanged at 9.3 mln tonnes on a return to average yields and a loss in barley area staying below 10%. Farmer seeding influences include lower exports, US corn imports and competition from other crops.
Barley prices are unchanged in a quiet market with little export activity due to competition in global trade (for limited demand) and with local cattle feeders well covered. Moisture is needed but the market feels heavy. Feed barley prices are steady, with bids at lower price levels.
