Brewing news USA: Krusovice Imperial won the Best Bohemian-style Pilsner top honours

The newest beer in the portfolio of European beer importer Binding Brauerei U.S.A. (BBUSA) has also become the newest beer in its portfolio to win a major award, BBUSA sources released on May 09. Krusovice Imperial from the Czech Republic, won top honours as the Best Bohemian-style Pilsner at the Brewers Association World Beer Cup® 2006.

The contest, held April 14 at the Washington State Trade & Convention Center in Seattle, was attended by 950 of the world’s best brewers with 2,221 beers submitted for judging. Krusovice took first place in a field of 39 competitors for the title of Best Bohemian Pilsner (category 19), winning the Gold Medal over silver medalist Czechvar (Czech Republic) and bronze winner Pils (Germany).

“BBUSA has established a tradition of bringing great European lagers to the U.S.,” said Dilip Mehta, chief operating officer of BBUSA. “This award earned by Krusovice in an international competition held in the U.S. is a perfect illustration of the quality of the beer and the reception we hope it will have in this country.”

Charlie Papazian, founder of the World Beer Cup and president of the Brewers Association, adds, “The World Beer Cup is the Olympics of beer competitions. It was founded to create greater consumer awareness about the quality and diversity of the various beers of the world.”

Krusovice Imperial is a lager brewed following the classical tradition and recipe of Czech beers, but using modern technology and facilities. Superior quality Czech malt, natural spring water from the Krivoklat Woods, and hops from the Zatec region are used in the production of the Imperial lager. Krusovice Imperial is available in 16.9 oz. bottles and 50-liter kegs. Krusovice Cerne comes in 16.9 oz. bottles and 30-liter kegs.

BBUSA, a subsidiary of Radeberger Gruppe AG in Frankfurt, imports and distributes Radeberger Premium Pilsner, Clausthaler Classic and Amber Non-Alcoholic, DAB Original, and DAB Dark, Krusovice Cerne, Tucher beers and Henninger beers. BBUSA is located at 194 Main Street, Norwalk, Connecticut, USA.
