Mercosur: Mercosur supplies are sufficient for domestic demand plus exports

Argentina harvested around 780,000 tonnes of malting barley of good condition, protein in a wide range between 9 and 12 %, average below 10,5 %. Quality results vary from one area to another.

Uruguay reports a very good crop. Brazil has harvested 250 – 300,000 tonnes of barley, only 30 - 40 % qualify for malting.

As there was a good carry-over from the excellent crop of 2004/05, Mercosur supplies are sufficient for domestic demand plus exports.
