Brazil: Heineken tirples capacity of its Igarussu brewery
The Heineken Group inaugurated new production lines at its Igarassu brewery with a 200 million investment for its expansion, tripling the plant's production capacity, primarily for the production of the Amstel and Devassa brands, in addition to strengthening its commitment to sustainability in the production process, FreshlyBottled.com reported on September 2.
The Igarassu plant is strategic for supplying key markets in the Northeast, such as the states of Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Bahia, Alagoas, Paraíba, and Sergipe. The Heineken Group is present in more than 90 percent of the most important points of sale in Pernambuco, making the state the company's second-largest market in Northeast Brazil, with solid growth for brands such as Heineken and Amstel.
With this expansion, the brewery consolidates its position as the largest Amstel producer in the region, following the brand's double-digit growth in the first half of this year.
"Consolidating an investment of this magnitude not only strengthens the presence of our core portfolio in the region, but also reinforces our commitment to the sustainability agenda and local economic development," says Mauro Homem, Vice President of the Heineken Group.
