Barley news Argentina: Export barley values mostly unchanged

Argentina’s export barley values are mostly unchanged with only a slight drop in crop’25 malting barley, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.

For malting barley, there is the presence of open demand in the market for small lots of old crop, in addition to new crop interest. The challenge for old crop remains the quality risk premium required for retaining quantities for late season shipment of malting quality, and there is a limited supply remaining. However, buyers price ideas remain at lower price levels, which leaves a considerable Bid/Offer gap and therefore limited trade activity is taking place.

For feed barley, there are reports of demand surfacing (e.g. Middle East) for old crop shipment. For FAS prices, value are slightly higher for old crop malting barley and new crop feed barley in an attempt to spark some farmer selling given the demand presently in the market. At lower FAS levels farmer selling was quite limited, and buyers price ideas were at lower levels, creating a stalemate where someone must blink.
