Barley news EU: Analysts increase barley crop forecast on positive early results in France and Germany

Harvest has commenced for winter barley and - in France - some early winter sown spring barley. Late season rain, while too late to reverse the impacts of earlier dry conditions, has not impacted the pace of harvest. Early results in France and Germany are positive, with suitable proteins and sizing, RMI Analytics said in their latest report as their barley crop’25 forecast is increased to 59.0 mln tonnes with Spain’s record crop the main driver for the increase.

Crop’24 barley exports continue to lag well below (-24.1%) crop’23 levels. Prices are lower, as the advance of harvest confirms a good result in key areas, like France.
