USA, MI: Brew Detroit to close taproom, focus on production and distribution
Brew Detroit, a longtime fixture in Corktown, announced it will close its taproom on January 31. The brewery, which started as a contract brewer in 2014, shifted to a community-focused taproom in 2015. Moving forward, Brew Detroit will focus solely on beer production and distribution, according to Detroit Free Press.
Brew Detroit recently announced the closure of its Corktown taproom after a decade of serving the community. The company expressed gratitude, stating, "it has been our honor and privilege to serve the Corktown and Detroit community for the last decade," and reflected on the connections formed, noting, "we sought to offer a variety of exceptional beers, what we found was community, through the exceptional people who decided to fill our space and collaborate with us over the years." This closure comes amid broader economic challenges in Michigans craft beer industry, with several other breweries, including Ascension Brewing Co. in Novi, also closing in 2024, as stated by ClickOnDetroit.
Brew Detroit, known for brewing Stroh's Bohemian lager and Kid Rock's Badass American Lager, is closing its taproom at 1401 Abbott St. The space, which featured a second-floor event area and a farm-to-table kitchen added in 2022, will host a release party for its Depth V bourbon barrel-aged stout as a farewell, as per WXYZ.
