World: Barley trade forecast unchanged at 29.716 mln tonnes in USDA’s August report
World barley trade forecast for 2022/23 is unchanged in USDA’s August report at 29.716 mln tonnes versus 28.94 mln in 2021/22.
Barley export forecast is up for Australia (+500 thousand tonnes to 6.7 mln) and down for the EU (minus 500 thousand tonnes to 6.3 mln).
Global barley production is forecast at 146.357 mln tonnes this month – up from 145.526 mln forecast for 2022/23 in July and 145.153 mln forecast for 2021/22.
Total barley consumption is seen at 147.061 mln tonnes (145.968 mln in USDA’s July report, 148.465 mln in 2021/22), and ending stocks at 16.853 mln tonnes (16.402 and 17.557 mln tonnes, respectively).
