France: Share of malting barley of France’s winter barley crop estimated at 7 mln tonnes

France harvested 11.2 mln tonnes of winter barley. According to private estimates, share of malting barley varieties is around 7.0 mln tonnes, the selection for malting is probably 2.2 mln tonnes, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in August.

Screenings are disappointing, for yields and the other quality parameters there is a line of improvement from the poor southwest to the excellent Champagne.

The total EU demand for French 6rw barley (on paper) is 1.8 mln tonnes, leaving a surplus of 0.4 mln tonnes for exports abroad.
