Barley news Argentina: Argentina’s barley crop still forecast at 5.4 mln tonnes despite weather concerns in the north

Rains over the past two weeks have greatly improved the situation in the Buenos Aires province. However, dryness concerns remain high for the norther region (Cordoba/Santa Fe) but rain is forecast which is urgently needed, RMI Analytics said in their early August report.

Despite the concerns in the north, the improved conditions in the Buenos Aires province leave the forecast of the nation’s barley crop at 5.4 mln tonnes.

Crop 2021 export licences climbed to 3.64 mln tonnes, up 0.1 mln from last month. Crop 2022 bookings for export licences are 0.84 mln tonnes (almost all feed), unchanged from last month.

Farmer selling remains non-existent due to the peso devaluation concerns and the early stage of crop development.
