World: World barley trade forecast down in USDAs July report
World barley trade is forecast to total 29.716 mln tonnes in 2022/23, down from 30.516 mln tonnes forecast in June and only slightly more than the 29.59 mln tonnes forecast for the 2021/22 crop year, USDA said in their July report.
Export forecast is down for Canada at 3 mln tonnes this month vs. 3.5 mln in June and 1.8 mln in 2021/22 and the EU at 6.8 mln tonnes versus 7.1 mln and 7.2 mln, respectively.
Barley import forecast is down for Saudi Arabia minus 300 thousand tonnes from the 5 mln forecast in USDAs June report (4.5 mln tonnes estimated for 2021/22), and China at 9.5 mln tonnes in the July report vs. 10 mln forecast in June and 8.5 mln in 2021/22.
World barley crop is forecast to amount to 145.526 mln tonnes down from last months forecast of 147.26 mln tonnes and compared to 145.079 mln tonnes forecast for 2021/22.
Global barley consumption is seen at 145.968 mln tonnes (147.168 mln tonnes in the June report and 148.545 mln tonnes forecast for 2021/22) and ending stocks are forecast at 16.402 mln tonnes versus 16.874 and 16.844 mln tonnes, respectively.
