Argentina: Barley area, crop forecast slightly up this month
Industry participants recently assembled in Mar del Plata to discuss crop 2022 prospects for barley and wheat in Argentina. The consensus remains that barley is well-positioned with farmers and expectations are for barley to gain planted area (up by approximately 8%) versus wheat (down by approximately 1-2%), RMI Analytics said in their late May report.
On this basis, the analysts production forecast is slightly raised to 5.4 mln tonnes.
Tight ending stocks remain, as the strong export demand, including recent sales of old crop which ensure little carryover into crop 2022.
