Hops news The Czech Republic: Acreage and hop production seen on the rise this year

According to Bohemia Hop, acreage in the Czech Republic increased to 4,971 hectares (12,284 acres), compared to 4,966 hectares in 2020. Of those, 4,183 were devoted to the Saaz variety, The New Brewer reported.

Based on preliminary post-harvest estimates, hop production in the Czech Republic will exceed 8,000 metric tonnes, its highest total since 1996. Yields are above average and alpha levels are
also higher than expected.

For Czech hop varieties, laboratory analysis showed adequate alpha acids levels in all Czech varieties compared to long-term averages. Czech hop growers have seen alpha content increase during the last three years.
