Brewing news USA, KS: Transport Brewing working on second facility in Gardner

Like any new business, starting up a brewery can be a hard process. Transport Brewery, which opened in 2018, was no stranger to those struggles. After overcoming the typical obstacles to opening a new business, Transport has become a staple at the Johnson Drive location in Shawnee, Kansas, flatlandkc.org reported on September 28.

In fact, Transport has been doing so well in Shawnee that expansion plans are now in the works. In an announcement on their Facebook page, Transport broke the news that they are working on a second facility to be located in downtown Gardner, Kansas.

The bigger location will allow Transport to develop new beers without clogging up the production pipeline for mainstays. The bigger facility also will give the brewery an opportunity to add an on-site kitchen rather than rely on food trucks out front. Finally, a bigger building means more space for guests.

For anyone reading this and worrying that their current location will go away, fret not. Transport plans on keeping the Shawnee location in addition to the new Gardner spot. While no formal construction plans have been announced, they are hoping to have the new facility open at some point in 2022. When it does, you can count on us to be among some of the first customers to help them celebrate.

Strange Days Brewing Co. — 316 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — has a brand new sour ale for you. In an homage to their favorite Sonic Drive-In drink, they have released Supersonic Brain Freeze, a 5% ABV fruited gose. This beer has flavors of cherry, lime and salt. It will leave your tastebuds puckering.

Boulevard Brewing Co. — 2501 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri — also is releasing a brand new sour ale. Hibiscus Ginger Sour rings in at 4.2% ABV and 10 IBUs. The beer starts slightly tart and floral and finishes with a bit of ginger spice. It’s perfect for warm fall days and cool fall evenings.

Alma Mader Brewing — 2635 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri — is ringing in the week with three new releases. Tall Tales is an 8.5% ABV imperial oat brown ale brewed with cinnamon and Colombian and Brazilian coffee from Messenger. Phyllharmonic is a 6.7% ABV fresh hop IPA using hops from Kansas Hop Co. Lastly, they have Meadow, which is a classic 5.5% ABV fest bier which is more like a Vienna lager than a märzen.
