Brewing news USA, MD: Landmade Brewing getting ready for November launch

A brewery on a farm near Poolesville is under construction, and its owner hopes it will open in November, BethesdaMagazine.com reported on September 21.

Gabriel Scott and his wife Amanda started Landmade Brewing on their family farm on Jerusalem Road in Poolesville, just off Md. 28.

The brewery will feature a tasting room, outdoor seating and an on-site food truck, among other features, Scott told Bethesda Beat. There will also be farm animals.

The tasting room and other parts of the brewery are under construction. Scott said the brewery will focus on beer production, but will also include ciders.

“We have eight acres of peaches and five acres of apples, both of which are being used for production,” he said.

Scott said they also grow produce and herbs on the farm.

He plans to buy hops for the beer locally and regionally. All production will be done on site, he said.

“Our mission is to create all different types of beer with Maryland products,” he said.

Some produce and grains might need to be purchased from Delaware or Virginia, Scott said.

The food menu will be seasonal, and will include sandwiches, sides and “fun iterations of beer food,” Scott said. The goal is to have a “full-blown hospitality experience,” he said.

Scott has worked in the hospitality industry, including as a consultant for a brewery in upstate New York. He said he hopes to establish an atmosphere where people can drink and socialize.

“I always wanted to find a way to recreate that environment with other people,” he said.

Scott, who has a 2-year-old daughter, said working late shifts at restaurants isn’t conducive to building a family. Landmade Brewing has allowed him and his wife to share the responsibility.

“She’s much more on the marketing and support side. I’m on the concept development and operations side,” he said.
