Australia: Another large and good barley crop made possible by good rainfalls this season
Variable, but altogether good rainfalls created the basis for another large and good barley crop in Australia, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their August report.
Private crop estimates are as high as 12 – 13 mln tonnes.
In the recent GIWA conference participants confirmed the successful change of barley marketing from China to Southeast Asia, where Thailand and Vietnam have become regular feed barley customers, the Philippines begin to test barley as well. Firm corn markets incite consumers to look for feed alternatives, e.g. barley.
