Barley news Argentina: Barley crop, supply, exports expected to increase in 2021/22

Argentina’s barley production forecast is stable at 4.5 mln tonnes in 2021/22 versus 3.8 mln in 2020/21, local analysts reported earlier in July.

Crop 2021 is being planted under favourable conditions with more than 90% of planting already completed. Forecast area is 1.1 mln ha.

The nation’s barley supply is expected to increase to 5.3 mln tonnes in 2021/22 from 4.9 mln tonnes in 2020/21.

Exports are forecast to reach 3 mln tonnes versus 2.6 mln in 2020/21.

With a very much absent demand in the market, Argentina’s barley prices are reported to have declined slightly. Farmer preference to market feed barley continues to support malting barley prices, freight issues are contributing to the upward trend too.
