Brewing news USA, KY: Epiphany Brews plans to open its doors in Louisville in early summer

A new micro-brewery right off one of Louisville's busiest streets plans to open its doors in the early summer, the Courier Journal reported on April 2.

Epiphany Brews, which will operate at 1525 Highland Ave. behind a post office and right off Baxter Avenue, plans to launch in June, said Ivor Chodkowski, one of the co-owners of the endeavor.

Chodkowski, a farmer at Field Day Family Farm, is pairing up with friends and fellow co-owners Erik Vaught and Nicholas Clark, who will oversee the brewing operations.

Chodkowski said Epiphany Brews will be a "small-scale beer production and a small taproom." He said the micro-brewery will have 40 seats indoors and 20 outdoors and will sell dozens of varieties of beer, including some bourbon-barrel beers.

"We hope to do as many of our own taps as possible, but certainly we will have some collaboration with other breweries, and we'll want to feature their beers as well," Chodkowski said.

The micro-brewery hopes to partner with some food trucks to deliver dining options to the space as well, Chodkowski said — though, he added, that they will not have food options immediately upon opening.

Chodkowski was one of several partners to launch Harvest, a farm-to-table restaurant in NuLu, back in 2011. The restaurant permanently closed in September 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Through Ephiphany Brews, Chodkowski said he hopes to support local food businesses and farmers as they look to recover from the pandemic.

"The Louisville food scene in particular has been so hard hit by COVID with all the closings," he said. "It's just sad."

Ephinay Brews will not be the only beer-selling establishment to come to the area in the near future. Hi-Wire Brewing, which is based in Asheville, N.C., announced in January that it plans to open a taproom at 642 Baxter Ave. in midsummer.
