Barley news World: Barley trade forecast increased to 30.801 mln tonnes this month

World barley trade forecast for 202/21 is increased to 30.801 mln tonnes in USDA’s March report from 29.776 mln tonnes in the February report and as compared to 28.421 mln tonnes estimate for 2019/20.

Export forecast is up for Australia (+1 mln tonnes to 6 mln), whereas import forecast is increased for Saudi Arabia (+800 thousand tonnes to 8 mln) and Vietnam (+100 thousand tonnes to 300 thousand).

Global barley production forecast is increased this month to 159.465 mln tonnes from 157.36 mln in the February report and 156.592 mln tonnes in 2019/20. Crop forecast is up for Australia (+2 mln tonnes to 13 mln).

World barley consumption is expected to reach 159.146 mln tonnes (vs. 157.497 mln tonnes in February and 154.366 mln tonnes in 2019/20) whereas ending stocks are seen at 20.308 mln tonnes (vs. 19.819 mln and 19.989 mln tonnes, respectively).
