Australia: Private barley crop estimates surpass ABARES’ February forecast
ABARES Barley Crop Estimate of February 16, 2021 forecasts Australia’s barley production at 13.1 mln tonnes this season vs. 10.2 mln tonnes last year, H. M. Gauger GmbH analysts said in their March report.
GIWA estimate of the Western Australia production is 4.53 mln tonnes vs. 4.4 of ABARES.
Private estimates of the total crop are 13.8 -13.9 mln tonnes.
Firm world markets helped Australia to overcome the Chinese blockade quite well. Shipments to Saudi Arabia in January-February were 775 thousand tonnes.
