Barley news World: Barley trade forecast increased to 27.778 mln tonnes this month

World barley trade forecast for 2020/21 has been increased by USDA to 27.778 mln tonnes from 27.278 mln tonnes in the September report as the EU is now expected to ship abroad 6.5 mln and not 6 mln tonnes of the commodity.

Import forecast is increased for China (to 6.5 mln from 5.3 mln last month) and reduced for Iran (by 500 thousand tonnes to 2.5 mln) and Saudi Arabia (minus 200 thousand tonnes to 7.3 mln).

For 2019/20, world barley trade is forecast at 27.879 mln tonnes.

World barley output is forecast at 156.38 mln tonnes this month, versus 156.75 mln and 156.891 mln in the September forecast for 2020/21 and in 2019/20, respectively.

Barley consumption is forecast at 156.123 mln tonnes (vs. 155.756 and 154.813 mln tonnes, respectively), and ending stocks at 20.08 mln tonnes (20.656 and 19.823 mln tonnes, respectively).
