EU: Barley production forecast at 54.959 mln tonnes in 2020/21
EU Commission’s Barley Supply and Demand Balance of September 24, 2020, forecasts the EU-27 2020/21 barley production at 54.959 mln tonnes versus 55.102 mln in 2019/20, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier this month.
Imports are seen down to 1 mln tonnes vs. 1.894 mln last season.
The EU-27 barley consumption is forecast at 44.403 mln tonnes (slightly up from 44.023 mln tonnes in 2019/20), mainly due to a rise in forecast feed barley consumption.
Exports, including malt in grain equivalent, are seen at 10.5 mln tonnes vs. 10.504 mln last year.
The ending stocks are forecast at 6.723 mln tonnes – up from 5.667 mln tonnes in 2019/20.
