Hops news Germany: Tettnang increases hop acreage by 2.9% this year

Tettnang’s total hop acreage is up by 41.67 ha (+2.9%) from 1,437.74 ha in 2019, totalling 1,479.41 ha in 2020, Hopfenpflanzerverband Tettnang e.V. reported on May 28.

Varieties that saw most significant increase in area are Perle (plus 28 ha) and Herkules (plus 20 ha). The acreage of other varieties is the same as last year or slightly down, Hopfenpflanzerverband Tettnang said.

The number of hop farms in Tettnang this year is 125 (-3 versus 2019). The average acreage is slightly up - at 11.8 ha / farm.

The top 5 hop varieties in Tettnang are Tettnanger (718 ha), Herkules (283 ha), Hallertauer Mfr. (140 ha), Perle (103 ha), Hallertauer Tradition (68 ha). 25 different varieties are being grown in the region.
