Brewing news Mongolia: Asia Pacific Brewery appointments new financial manager with MCS-APB joint venture

Augustine Minimbi is the first Papua New Guinean appointed to a financial management position with Asia Pacific Brewery in Mongolia.

Augustine Minimbi left for Mongolia in July this year where he will be Finance Manager for MCS, Asia Pacific Brewery LLC, a joint venture company between Mongolia Consulting Services and Asia Pacific Brewery (APB). He got this assignment for a period of three years.

Minimbi was the chief accountant of the South Pacific Brewery (SPB) Limited until his appointment by SPB's parent company, APB early this year.

He had served six months at the head office in Singapore and his performance there was a major contributing factor to his appointment for the Finance Manager position in APB's start up company in Mongolia.

Throughout its years of operation in PNG, SPB has regularly sent PNG citizens overseas for training and career development within the APB Group.

Augustine Minimbi is the first PNG staff of SPB to be appointed to a key finance manager position within the APB Group which now has 23 breweries in 10 countries around the Asia Pacific and South Asia Region.

As Finance Manager in MCS-APB start-up joint-venture in Mongolia, Augustine now in his 30s is part of the team that will oversee the building of a brand-new brewery which will eventually produce Tiger Beer and other APB beer brands.

"I am excited about the appointment whilst recognizing that it is in itself a challenge to me. I am thankful for the trust and confidence the management of SPB and APB have shown in making this appointment, I think the best way to reward those that vest their trust and confidence in one's ability to progress further is to do one's best and not to let them down. It feels good to be part of the small group who work and live abroad as PNG expatriates," said Augustine Minimbi.

SP Brewery general manager Nigel Yeo said the company was very pleased with his appointment as he has done everyone proud, the company and the country as well.
He said SPB has invested a lot into the career development of its employees.
