Brewing news India: Carlsberg is to enter India with a brewery in Rajasthan

Danish brewing giant, Carlsberg A/S looked to be keen to enter India with a beer manufacturing plant in Rajasthan, Times of India reported on April 5. Company representatives met Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje here on April 4 and expressed their interest in establishing a project in Alwar district.

The decision by the beverage group is in line with its policy of focusing on the growing beer markets in Asia. The company is already involved in 20 breweries in western China.

Meanwhile, an Australian company, enthused by preliminary reports of presence of gold in Rajasthan, has shown interest in exploring gold reserves in the state.

Senior officials of the company met Raje here to discuss the project. The name of the company was, however, not disclosed.

The Australian company has asked for a prospecting licence for locating and exploring gold reserves in the Banswara and Udaipur districts where a preliminary survey has indicated the presence of large gold deposits.
