Russia: One week until Baltika shareholder meeting - active minority shareholder participation decisive

Russia’s largest brewery, Baltika, announced on February 28 that with one week left before the deadline of the Baltika EGSM vote on the merger of Baltika with Pikra, Vena and Yarpivo, Baltika Breweries wants to remind all its shareholders to vote.

The company is pleased by the favorable feedback it has received from shareholders to the merger with brewers Pikra, Vena and Yarpivo. The merger plan was announced on 18 January 2006. Anton Artemiev, President of Baltika Breweries, said today: “We believe the proposed merger is an excellent opportunity for all shareholders. However it is important that every shareholder who supports the merger and the growth opportunity of Baltika, acts now, votes and returns the ballots before 7 March 2006. We believe the only significant threat to the merger plan is shareholder passivity.”

One week remains for Baltika shareholders to send their completed ballots to Baltika: these votes should arrive at Baltika Breweries before 7 March 2006.
