Barley news Australia: Barley crop forecast steady with further increase still possible

The weather conditions are amazing with moisture levels continuing to improve dramatically across all key barley regions in Australlia, and widespread light rain is forecast over the next week. Given all this positivity, RMI Analytics experts maintain their barley crop’25 forecast for Australia steady at 13.3 mln tonnes with a further increase possible.

Crop development has undergone a dramatic turnaround the past 6-8 weeks, from drought concerns to nearly-ideal conditions. Current prices are not interesting to farmers and any further drop would likely reduce selling interest for barley.

Another impact of the improved crop conditions is a slightly later harvest timing, as the rain has made crops quite green and lush, and pushing new crop availability slightly later than previously anticipated when conditions were hot/dry. Current conditions are good, but we should not forget that further rains are still required.
