Brewing news USA, MD: The Other One Brewing Company becomes Ocean City’s newest brewery

The newest brewery in Ocean City, at 2305 Philadelphia Ave. inside the building below Surf’s Up Arcade, will have its grand opening on Friday, March 3 at noon, DelmarvaNow.com reported.

Nathan Todd, founder and head brewer of The Other One Brewing Company, said, “I think this is going to be a place that people are going to be able to come, and they're going to love it because we’ll always have good jams on. It's a friendly and inviting atmosphere, so it's a very chill type of place.”

For 10 years he worked at the now closed Backshore Brewing Co. at 10th street on the Boardwalk. Todd started as a bartender and worked his way up to head brewer and manager.

“When it shut down, I had offers to go work at some other breweries. But ultimately, it was just a decision of why not do my own thing. I had a pretty good following and had my own recipes and all that stuff,” he said.

One of those recipes that carried over from Backshore is now called Table 1. It’s a brown ale that was popular with a mug club, leading Todd to rebrand it for The Other One Brewing Company.

For the grand opening eight beers will be on tap, including Table 1. Bayside Blond; Return of the Brew Guy, a double IPA; It’s Paddy Time!, a stout; The Other B.O.B, an IPA; Good Good Things, a pale ale; Mornin’ Jay!, a coffee porter, and a wheat beer called Jack Straw.

Todd said that since Ocean City is a seasonal town and tourist destination, the beers on tap will change and they want to have beers that reflect the season.

Throughout March and April, The Other One Brewery plans to be open Thursdays through Sundays, and once the season picks up, they will be open seven days a week.
