Barley news World: Global barley prices mostly steady at the moment

Global barley prices are currently mostly steady, with some minor changes seen in crop 2022 levels, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.

Australian prices are slightly up, possibly in anticipation of a resolution to the Chinese barley tariff dispute, while French feed barley prices are stronger due to trade activity, rumoured to be China back in the market following the Chinese New Year celebrations. French crop 2023 prices are lower for malting barley but up for feed barley, the analysts said.

Trade activity in Europe is increasingly focused on barley crop 2023 but with some small trades still taking place with crop 2022. This is evidence that demand is still present in some markets.

The influence being felt from corn and wheat markets globally remains strong, and this situation is not expected to change until production 2023 for these crops is further established (and certain). The same holds true for barley where a smaller 2023 crop is forecast.
