Barley news World: Barley trade forecast slightly down on lower exports expected from Argentina and Russia

World barley trade forecast for 2022/23 is slightly down in USDA’s November report: at 29.576 mln tonnes versus 30.116 mln tonnes forecast in October.

Export forecast is reduced by 500 thousand tonnes to 3 mln for Argentina and by the same amount to 5.5 mln tonnes for Russia. Australia’s barley exports forecast is up by 500 thousand tonnes to 7.2 mln.

China’s barley imports are forecast at 9 mln tonnes in November vs. the October forecast of 9.5 mln tonnes.

Barley crop is seen at 149.002 mln tonnes in 2022/23 – up from 145.518 mln in 2021/22. The forecast is practically unchanged from last month.

Total barley consumption and ending stocks forecasts are also almost unchanged versus October – at 149.227 and 17.896 mln tonnes, respectively.
