Canada: Barley crop forecast at minimum 9.428 mln tonnes

CanStats barley production estimate of August 22 is 9.428 mln tonnes; private guesstimates are moderately higher, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their October report.

Weather turned out perfect for ripening and harvest, the average barley quality is really good.

China returned as buyer, having booked one cargo and bidding further US$ 410 for malting and US$ 375 for FAQ barley.

After exports of 2.6 mln tonnes in 2021/22, Canada’s target is 3.45 mln tonnes in the new crop year. Shipments of new crop barley in September add up to half a million tonnes.
