EU & UK: Barley market firmer as export demand resurfaces
The EU barley market is firmer as export demand has resurfaced, in particular for destinations requiring French origin, while higher feed values are shrinking the malting premium. The result is Frances premium over the UK and Denmark remains in place, RMI Analytics report.
Maltsters are active in crop 2023 and possibly indicating a certain contentment with crop 2022 coverage.
With a clear exportable surplus in both the UK and Denmark, these origins continue as Europes residual barley supply as France pursues export (and domestic) business.
Maltsters in both the UK and continental Europe are exploring English barley supply despite the small premium over Danish barley.
