Brewing news USA, OH: Saucy Brew Works expanding to Sandusky

Saucy Brew Works keeps expanding, Cleveland.com reported on April 21.

The brewery, whose flagship location in Cleveland’s Hingetown neighborhood opened in 2017, is expanding to Sandusky and partnering with chef Andrew Gorski. Target opening date is this summer.

The latest Saucy will have both beer and coffee in a spot that formerly housed Zinc Brasserie and Boom Town Coffee on East Water Street. Initially, the space will accommodate interior seating for more than 140 customers including 20 seats in the coffeehouse, plus patio seating for 44. It will be open seven days a week.

The new location – 60 miles west of the Hingestown spot - will have Saucy’s signature New Haven-style apizza plus appetizers, sandwiches and casual dining plates.

It also will maintain a pilot brewing system “for small batch releases exclusive to Sandusky,” co-founder Eric Anderson said in a release. Anderson worked at Butcher and the Brewer prior to Saucy.

Gorski has a wealth of culinary experience, formerly working as executive chef of Tremont Taphouse and Parker’s Downtown among other restaurants outside of Ohio. He also worked with Saucy on the brewpub’s original menu in 2017.

The bar also will feature fine wines and signature cocktails designed to pair with Gorski’s menu offerings.

Saucy’s presence has slowly grown over the past five years. It has brewpub-coffeehouse combination locations in the Pinecrest development in Orange Village, Columbus and Detroit. Saucy also maintains a pub on the main concourse in Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. And it added a “Vibe Garden” to its Hingetown location in 2020.

Recently it pulled out of a planned brewpub-event center project in Independence, deciding to focus on its flagship location and other initiatives.
