Brewing news USA, CT: 30 Mile Brewing Company to close its doors this month

After five years of business, 30 Mile Brewing Company in Old Saybrook has announced that it will close its doors this month, The Greater New Milford Spectrum reported on January 6.

A statement by the ownership says that the brewery will host guests until its final day on Jan. 16.

"As a small business we are not immune to the challenging economic conditions of the past 2 years. At this point, it is not sustainable for us to continue on as we have," the statement reads. "We opened 30 Mile Brewing in 2016 with the goal of providing a community gathering space for people in the Old Saybrook area to enjoy craft beer. We feel over the past 5 years, we have accomplished that goal. We have met many amazing friends in our taproom and have tried to be the best possible partner to our community."

Located a short distance from the Old Saybrook Train Station, 30 Mile Brewing opened its doors in 2016. The idea was first brewed up in 2015 as a brainchild of Devon Landry, Justin Terribile and Luke Maynard.

The brewery concocts a number of eclectic brews with equally quirky names such as the "Zombie Cure American Imperial Stout" or the "BBA Sappy Sappy Joy Joy BBA Maple Stout."

Over time, 30 Mile Brewing Company's beers have paid homage to number of pop culture institutions including "The Simpsons," "South Park" and "Fight Club." The brewery also hosted its own mug club called the Swig Society, which offered members exclusive perks at the 30 Mile.

"We thank our Swig Society members and our community for the opportunity to live out our passion and hope to continue many of the incredible friendships we have built over time," the statement continues.
