Brewing news Canada, BC: Fern + Cedar Brewing now open in Qualicum Beach

A new brewpub offering “small batch, locally crafted beer for the community and visitors of Qualicum Beach” is now open, the Canadian Beer News reported on December 20.

Fern + Cedar Brewing has been launched by a team that includes head brewer Wes Bain and executive chef Michael Sproul, and officially opened its doors on Thursday, December 16th.

The initial beer line-up includes Four Poles Pale Ale (5.2% abv), Megaphylls IPA (6.3% abv), Moonlit Dark Ale (5.3% abv), Fiddlehead Red Ale (5.5% abv), and The Ripening Saison (5.8% abv), with a promise of more to come soon. A selection of guest beers, cider, wine, and spirits are also available from the bar.

The food program features a “modern West-Coast Gastropub menu” with dishes including Sichuan shrimp & lobster, buttermilk fried chicken, cod & chips, and BBQ lamb shoulder.

Fern + Cedar Brewing is located at 680 Berwick Road South in Qualicum Beach, and is open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Sunday to Thursday, and 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday.
