Australia: Barley harvest beginning and showing positive yield and quality results

Australia’s barley harvest is beginning and early results are positive for yield (at or above expectations) and quality (where majority of samples seen so far are of malting quality), RMI Analytics reported in late October.

Australian prices have moved higher across all port zones, with Western Australia leading the way due to Panamax capabilities garnering a premium.

Export capacity is scarce with canola and wheat placing pressure on malting barley to compete for shipping slots.
