Barley news EU: Barley prices continue the upward trend

Both 2RS and 6RW French malting barley prices crop 2021 continue their upward trend, with Mosel holding firmer versus Creil, RMI Analytics reported on October 21.

Crop 2022 prices are up but to a lesser degree, and gaining interest from maltsters due to the wide spread.

Export feed barley prices (FOB) are lagging behind malting barley but still trending higher.

The UK and Danish markets are following but maintaining a price spread of EUR9-10 per tonne as compared to France.

According to local sources, UK maltsters continue to press for coverage in Q1 2022 but the market is tight.

As for the Scandinavian nations, strong demand from continental Europe and exports to North America are forecast to keep this origin’s prices firm.
