World: January-July beer production up in China, US sales up and Germany’s down

China’s July beer production is estimated at 38.8 mln hl (last July – 39.0 mln), whereas the January-July volume reached 2.272 bln hl (last year 2.135, but 2019 was 2.361), H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their September report.

Germany’s brewers report January-July sales at 50.24 mln hl, minus 3.4% year-on-year, and July volume at 8.58 mln hl, minus 7.2%.

In the USA, beer sales reached 99.7 mln barrels in January-July (97.4 mln barrels over the same period last year, + 2.3% year-on-year), and 14,4 mln bbl in July (15.4 mln last year, minus 6.4 %), Corona and rainy, cool summer weather affected beer sales and malt call-offs in July.
