Barley news Uruguay & Brazil: Barley production forecast to increase, malting barley consumption to remain stable in 2021/22

Uruguay’s 2021/22 barley production is forecast to reach 900 thousand tonnes versus 880 thousand tonnes in 2020/21, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their August report.

Domestic consumption of malting barley is expected to remain unchanged at around 500 thousand tonnes. Exports are forecast at 250 thousand tonnes versus 205 thousand last year.

Brazil is forecast to harvest 400 thousand tonnes in 2021/22 vs. 350 thousand in 2020/21 with the domestic consumption of malting barley forecast unchaged at 900 thousand tonnes.
