World: Barley prices slowly edging downwards as harvest progresses
Global barley prices are slowly trending downwards as the industry players are watching closely the progress of the harvest and awaiting confirmation of the new supply.
Analysts are not yet able to answer the question whether Chinas appetite for commodities continue as the nations impact on the global trade has been humongous. Chinas barley demand, for instance, has doubled from about 5 mln tonnes in 2018 to approximately 10 mln nowadays.
Constraints in freight and logistics continue to impact global trade with container shortages still being reported by the industry and high freight rates pushing buyers away at present.
