EU: Barley production expected to increase to 56.015 mln tonnes in 2021/22

EU Commission Barley Supply and Demand Balance of Apr 29, 2021 forecasts the EU-27 barley production at 56.015 mln tonnes in 2021/22 versus 54.751 mln tonnes in 2020/21, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported.

Barley imports are expected to increase to 1.249 mln tonnes from 1 mln in 2020/21.

Total barley consumption is seen at 44.761 mln tonnes versus 44.421 mln in 2020/21.

Barley exports, including malt in grain equivalent, are forecast at 9.32 mln tonnes – down from 10.5 mln tonnes in the current marketing year.

Ending stocks are seen up, at 8.354 mln tonnes from 5.171 mln tonnes in 2020/21.
