EU: Barley production estimated to have dropped to 54.422 mln tonnes this season
The EU Commission Barley Supply and Demand Balance of January 26 estimates the EU-27 barley production at 54.422 mln tonnes vs. 55.024 mln in 2019/20.
Imports forecast is down to 1 mln tonnes from 1.893 mln last season.
2020/21 barley consumption by the 27 EU nations is seen at 44.32 mln tonnes versus 44.022 mln in 2019/20.
The EU Commission forecasts exports (including malt) at 10.5 mln tonnes – almost unchanged from last season’s 10.501 mln.
Ending stocks of barley are seen at 4.951 mln tonnes – down from 5.592 mln in 2019/20.
