Barley news World: Barley trade forecast slightly up in USDA’s January report

World barley trade is expected to total 29.151 mln tonnes in 2020/21, up from 28.933 mln tonnes forecast in December and up from 28.421 mln tonnes shipped in 2019/20, USDA said in their first Grain: World Markets and Trade report of this year.

Export forecast is up for Ukraine – plus 200 thousand tonnes to 4.2 mln.

World barley output is seen at 157.186 mln tonnes – practically unchanged from last month’s forecast. The 2019/20 production is estimated at 156.582 mln tonnes.

Global barley consumption is forecast at 156.516 mln tonnes (156.798 mln tonnes in the December forecast, 154.579 mln tonnes in 2019/20) and ending stocks at 20.419 mln tonnes (19.967 mln and 19.749 mln tonnes, respectively).
