EU: Barley production forecast to drop to 54.293 mln tonnes in 2020/21

The EU Commission’s S&D balance report of the end of October forecasts the EU-27 barley production in 2020/21 at 54.293 mln tonnes vs. 55.047 mln in 2019/20.

Import is seen down to 1 mln tonnes from 1.893 mln last season.

Barley consumption could reach 44.319 mln tonnes, just slightly up from 44.022 mln in 2019/20, the EU Commission said.

Exports, including malt in grain equivalent, are seen flat, at 10.5 mln tonnes, with ending stocks totalling 6.089 mln tonnes vs. 5.615 mln tonnes in 2019/20.
