Barley news Australia: Australia’s barley industry concentrated on world markets

China black-listed CBH of Perth, the No. 1 barley shipper of Australia for any barley deliveries to China, for reasons of weed admixtures in spite of correct phyto-certificates. Another Australian shipper delivered 100 thousand barley to China in July, which can only have happened within the tax-free import/export-quota. But altogether China is a lost market, and Australia concentrates on all other Asian markets, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their October report.

According to official sources, the trade participated in the Saudi Arab tender.

Crop prospects are very good in South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales, but Queensland and Western Australia need rains urgently.

Crop forecasts range from 11.0 to 13 mln tonnes, and a high number is likely because of the expected large crops in the south and southeast.
