Barley news World: Barley trade, production forecasts increased in USDA’s February report

World barley trade forecast for 2019/20 is slightly higher in USDA’s February report – 28.803 mln tonnes vs. 28.778 mln tonnes in the January forecast. The change is due to a slight increase in US barley exports forecast (115 thousand tonnes vs. 90 thousand in January).

Production forecast is increased to 156.119 mln tonnes this month versus 156.049 mln tonnes in the January report and 138.673 mln tonnes forecast for crop year 2018/19.

World barley consumption is seen at 152.948 mln tonnes (152.841 mln in the January report, 140.247 mln tonnes in 2018/19), and ending stocks at 20.982 mln tonnes (20.97 and 17.811 mln tonnes, respectively), USDA said.
