World: EU and Ukraine’s barley exports below last year’s levels so far
EU and Ukrainian barley exports as of the beginning of November are far above last year’s levels, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their November report.
Farmers in East and West Europe are very reluctant sellers, but also demand has slowed down temporarily.
The EU has a theoretical surplus of approximately 1.5 mln tonnes of winter and spring malting barley, of which 0.75 mln tonnes have already been sold.
The world S/D of malting barley will depend on the crop results in Argentina, Australia and Canada. China’s demand of 3.5 to 4.0 mln tonnes must be bought somewhere.
