World: Barley trade forecast up on higher supplies in the EU
World barley trade forecast for 2019/20 is set at 28.208 mln tonnes this month versus the September forecast of 28.108 mln tonnes, USDA reports.
Trade in 2018/19 is forecast at 25.38 mln tonnes.
Export forecast is up for the EU (+100 thousand tonnes to 5.6 mln tonnes) on larger supply forecast.
Global barley output is seen at 155.799 mln tonnes this month, up from 154.072 mln tonnes in the September forecast for 2019/20. In 2018/19, world barley production is forecast at 139.561 mln tonnes.
Total barley consumption is seen at 151.423 mln tonnes (151.021 mln in the September forecast for 2019/20, 140.784 mln in 2018/19), whereas ending stocks are expected to reach 22.587 mln tonnes (21.006 and 18.211 mln tonnes, respectively).
